Regarding the foreign media coverage of “Hsiung Feng Missile of Taiwan Connected with the Ship Wreck of ARA San Juan” quoted by UDN today (18th), the institute has provided the following explanation:
1. The media coverage of ARA San Juan of Argentina being attacked by anti-submarine torpedoes or anti-ship missiles and that the booster of the Hsiung Feng Missile was found among the wreckage was proven to be false information after investigation from the institute. The Ministry of National Defense has stipulated clear standards on the product differentiation and approved responsibilities of sales for various types of missiles and weapon systems of the institute to foreign countries, and hereby clarify that there are no sales of Hsiung Feng Missiles or relevant components to foreign countries at the present stage.
2. The Institute hereby requests all media to verify all sources before publishing and refrain from circulating false information to avoid creating confusions.
